Unreal - Hair and Fur, Atmospheric Effects, Water

Hair and Fur

Since 1.5.2, support in AR and VS has significantly improved.

Hair and Fur features are still very new in Unreal and may not behave as anticipated, especially with LOD. Thorough testing is advised.

Supported

Atmospheric Effects

In VS

Volumetric Fog (Exponential Height Fog)

Supported

  1. Enable "Volumetric Fog" on the Exponential Height Fog actor

  2. Enable “Render Fog on to VS” in Pixotope World Settings > VS

Atmospheric Fog, Sky Atmosphere

Partially supported - having the effect in front of the compositing plane is not supported, however this is rarely used.

In AR

Volumetric Fog (Exponential Height Fog)

  1. Enable "Volumetric Fog" on the Exponential Height Fog actor

Care is required with the settings as the compositing mode is additive, making it quite easy to over-expose the backplate.

Sky Atmosphere, Atmospheric Fog

Supported

Use selectively as, unless the backplate is a sky shot or most of the imagery is in the distance, they are hardly relevant.

Water

In VS

Partially supported using our legacy compositing pipeline.

Check "Backplane Enabled" in the Pixotope World Settings > VS > Advanced.
