Create mappings to define which LED panels/XR walls render to which video outputs. This step connects your physical LED setup to Pixotope's rendering system.
Key Concepts
-
Mappings work identically for manual setups and digital twins
-
Mapping is a 2D process, independent of physical LED body shapes
-
Without mappings, XR and digital twin patterns won't output
Mapping example
The following example LED bodies
can be output in different ways:
|
Render each LED body by a single machine. |
|
|
Split up the large LED body and render it by multiple machines. |
|
|
Render all LED bodies by a single machine. |
|
Prerequisites
Complete the body generation.
Learn more about how to Configure LED mapping
Create mapping
-
Go to SETUP > Configure > LED mapping
-
Switch to the "Pixel map" tab
-
The canvas switches to Tile mode
-
In Tile mode
-
single or a group of tiles can be moved individually
-
bodies are shown with their actual pixel size (any scaling from LED volume is disregarded)
-
Click the
+icon to create a new Mapping -
Select the mapping and change the mapping size if needed
Assign tiles to mapping
Depending on the size of the body and your mapping, select
-
Select a whole group of tiles from a body view on top and drag it into the mapping
-
Position it by using edge snapping or the X and Y fields of the tile group
Body tiles that appear darker, indicate that they already have been placed in one mapping.
To keep them pixel perfect, do not rescale them!
Dragging whole body
Dragging group of tiles
Change tile placement
-
Select one or more tiles of the group
-
Drag them to a new position within the same or a different mapping
-
If not all tiles of a group were moved, the tiles are broken down into smaller groups
-
-
Optionally you can change the placement and scaling of a group in the details tab on the right
Want to start from scratch? Just select and delete the tiles and drag them down from the body again.
Assign outputs to mappings
-
Go to the Routing panel
-
Open the media output row of the machine which should render this mapping
-
Select the mapping using the XR Mapping dropdown
Make sure that the machine has an XR render group tag.

Identify your mappings
To check that your mappings have been setup and output correctly.
In Editor
-
Expand Display Mode
-
Choose "Identify" for the XR Wall Texture
In Director
-
Go to PRODUCTION > XR > General
-
Choose "Identify" for the Display mode for digital/manual twin
Be sure to read from the XR machine to enable the settings in the Production page.
